Jennie Platt tells us why she supports Prestwich Arts Festival

Jennie Platt has supported Prestwich Arts Festival since its first year in 2018 and we're delighted she is sponsoring #PAF2019 this year too. Jennie tells us here a bit about herself, her business and her love for the arts - and Prestwich!

Tell us a bit about yourself and Jennie Platt Estates

I grew up in the area, and after running a successful business in the city centre, Prestwich was the perfect spot to start a new one, I knew the area well, and saw its potential. I still live in the heart of Prestwich with my boys, and am passionate about what it has to offer .

Tell us what you love about Prestwich

I love its green spaces like the Clough and Heaton Park and the growing hub of independent businesses. I love all the sport, especially the teams I sponsor! And the tram. There is a really good vibe at the moment, with a increasingly arty feel.

"I love what the Festival is doing in making arts a piece of Prestwich’s fabric, and putting on a programme that has the potential to engage everyone that lives here."

Why did you decide to support Prestwich Arts Festival?

I have always loved art, and have always enjoyed collecting pieces for my own home. We’ve also now got behind local artists, selling their work in our office (anyone else wanting to sell their work with us just give me a shout!) . I love what the Festival is doing in making arts a piece of Prestwich’s fabric, and putting on a programme that has the potential to engage everyone that lives here.

Why is supporting creativity and the arts important to you?

Creativity and the arts are central to helping make great places. Engaging in arts is positive for mental health and general wellbeing, and can be accessible to all ages, and backgrounds. Festivals such as this really help create a strong sense of place and community, a place where people want to live, and I'm really passionate about that.

Which events in this year's festival programme are you looking forward to?

I’m really looking forward to the Eating with Lions screening, and also seeing the results of the lantern workshops in Heaton Park.

Thank you for your support Jennie!
